My 2007 cobalt lt idles rough, but if I put it in neutral the vibration stops. Also, sometimes while driving it feels like I have a complete loss of power and my car will sputter/stall briefly.

http://www.yourcobalt.com/forums/chevy-cobalt-owners-lounge/27882- rough-idle-rough-stops-09-cobalt-2.html -- this is for an 09 model but it seems cleaning the throttle plate and throttle body helps with these issues on the cobalts. Also cleaning the maf helps. Some also state that if you just happen to move the throttle by hand it could mess up the gears in it causing a rough idle situation. Hope this helps

For the rough idle/neutral fix, check the motor mounts. I would say that the driving sputter is a different issue altogether, possibly unrelated....but definitely check the motor mounts first.
