08 Dodge avenger

I was at a red light my car shuts off had to push in neutral to
park and when trying to start it sounds like it wants to but it
makes put put sound anyone else had this same problem or
know what this might be

timing belt ?? can you see any lifters from the oil fill cap ? do they move when you crank it ?
