2008 dodge avenger issues

Asked by Ryan Jan 06, 2022 at 08:50 PM about the 2008 Dodge Avenger SXT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 dodge avenger won't start. Drove it to the store
turned it off went in came back and when I attempted to
turn it on there was a single click then nada only light in is
right above the speedometer and it's sold not blinking. No
attempted theft (someone was sitting in the car while it
was off). When someone tried jumping it, it tried to turn
over at first but they guy gave up ans left. Attempted
unhooking the battery for an hour and no change. There
was a second attempt to jump it in case it was dead but
this time it didn't even try to start. None of the lights come
on woth the key in the ignition except the 2 times we tried
jumping it. Any ideas?

I should have mentioned the battery was replaced 3 days ago. We went to check on it yesterday and it started up. Someone said it might be grounding out somewhere it shouldnt and my uncle swears the computer just needs reset.

That single click indicates current to the starter is restricted or nonexistent. Could be a dead battery, loose/corroded connections, damaged conductors like bad cables, or a defective ignition switch.
