Melted wiring in front of our 87 GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Anyone!!
I have recently picked up a 87 GT.
My wife has rode it off and on for a couple months. Monday she called me
freaking out and it was smoking through the heat vents, She said it filled the
car. After pulling over, I met her to see what was going on. The car had the
smell of plastic and smoke.I seen smoke coming from the front, so when I
started looking the wiring harness down by the brake booster has melted
together. Appears that one of the plugs is the heater fan, just under it is another
plug that really has melted all the wires together. I can not get either of the
plugs apart. Can anyone tell me what it is or where I can find a diagram on
this?? I have disconnected the battery for now, until I find out whats going on.

For wiring diagrams you'll need a factory shop manual. Try Faxon Auto Literature in Riverside, CA for a reprint. They have a website. I've bought from there before. Hope that helps! Jim
