tachometer isn't working?

Asked by thatfierolover_86 May 21, 2020 at 07:49 PM about the 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

ok, my fiero's tach will not work. whenever i start it, it will either stay at 0, or go
to 7000. its definitely not idling at 7000, as its idling at 2 currently (i know, way
too high) but i need to know how to fix it.

Thanks!

Could simply be the gauge itself. I'd look into getting a replacement gauge since it's 30 plus years old.. Replace the speedo as well as the gauges all come in a cluster panel making it convenient to replace all gauges in the cluster. Upgrade to LED dash bulbs while you are at it.
