The check engine light comes on every morning, why?

Asked by tabbo Aug 07, 2015 at 12:09 PM about the 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 2007 Tacoma 4 door 4 wheel drive V6. The check engine light comes on every
morning after driving about 1.5 miles. When this happens the truck will not shift to
overdrive. However after one stop and restart it will shift to overdrive but the check
engine light is still on. Then after 3 more cold starts on the same day the check engine
light goes off and all, seems well until the next morning when after 1.5 miles it comes
on again.Whats causing this?

Have check engine light read to see what code is coming up that is causing the light to come on.
