Anyone ever have your hummer h3 make a bad metal grinding / flopping sound, then Tire just locks up?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Upon take off, the front drivers side makes
a grinding, popping, scraping sound then
locks up front left Tire. Try to take off and
it won't move. Able to go in reverse for a
bit, then back in drive, it'll go about 10'
then make the noise and lock up the front
left Tire and stop the vehicle. Jacked up
the hummer and checked by trying to
wiggle Tire, no movement. Took Tire off
and checked brake caliper bolts, they
looked alright. Nothing seems loose, but
there is a little bit of oil leak where the
inner cv joint mounts into the motor. Any
ideas?

Bad wheel bearings or CV joint but the differential could also be broken.

Had it towed to a shop, they took out the drain plug from the differential and nothing came out. Never getting checked or serviced caused the differential to go out in a severe manner. Had differential replaced and everything else checked out. Transfer case oil was in very bad shape, so had it serviced too.
