I have an Acura MDX with a non functional gas guage dial and fading screen light in the gas screen compartment, I have checked all the fusses they seem fine. what route do I take next to get this dial working again?

Sounds to me as though there is a problem with the printed circuit in the dash cluster for the gas gauge. These typically use resistors, etc., to control not only electrical feed to the gauge, but also the lighting. Search for a dash cluster rebuilder on Google, there are many to choose from.
