Jaguar xtype stuck in drive

Hi guys.i have a jaguar xtype 2.1L 2003 model. I
got into an accident and broke the geaf selection
shaft.replaced it after puting down the gear
box.now the shift is stuck in drive and wont select
any gear.the car can not start also.kindly assist.
