Why poor gas milage on 1995 IMpreza 2.2L non-turbo?

Just bought a 1995 Impreza with ~135,000 miles. Milage is poor, like 1/4 tank for a flat 30 mile drive. Has new plug wires, not
sure about plugs.  Think air filter was replaced, not sure. New tires (snow), properly inflated.  Any ideas before I take to a shop?

I just bought the same car same year, and I also have super poor milage. I'd love to hear what an expert would say about this too! S
