Timing Belt

Asked by seltzer3 Jan 02, 2017 at 12:43 AM about the 2006 Scion xA Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Wasn't sure if this car had a timing belt or chain.  Also was wondering when I
should get it replaced?  Currently have 60,000 Miles.

It's a timing chain not a belt..... BUT, there's a serpentine belt, change it at 75,000 , not a big expense at all..

Yes there is a timing chain, and tensioners that would wear. There are ways to check to see if it needs servicing. Markw1952 mentions the serpentine belt that drives the alternator, water pump, power steering, & AC.
