Should I change the turbo?

Asked by ToloM Sep 05, 2014 at 01:16 PM about the 2001 Saab 9-5 SE Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 Saab 9-5 station wagon shows small puffs of blue smoke on start-up. Otherwise,
it runs without any problem. Body in good shape; no rust.

Hi Tom: Thank you for your reply. My Saab mechanic of more than twenty years (the 9-5 station wagon is my 4th Saab) thinks the blue smoke is due to worn out seals in the turbo. This vehicle has 153,500 miles. Nevertheless, I think it's worth to check the valve seals if he hasn't done it yet. I'll let you know. Thank you again, Tolo M.
