Can't get my intake manifold off! 4.6 V8 w/pics

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It's a Mercury mountaineer 4.6 V8  So I got
everything out of the way and have taken off the 8
bolts holding the manifold on. It's either stuck on
there or I'm missing something. If it's stuck I have
no idea how I'd get it off. It's on there good.

I've never worked on the 4.6 engine but since the intake manifold has a neoprene gasket, I can't imagine it could be stuck that hard. I would look for more fasteners before prying too hard. That plastic is tough but also very brittle.

I've searched and searched for anything else possibly holding it down. Its like it won't even budge. The way it's so snug I would think it's glued down.

That neoprene gasket may have cooked on. Maybe you can carefully pry it loose. Not all at one time and not all in one spot. If anything breaks off, try to keep it from falling into the intake.
