06 Jaguar x-type 3.0 brrrrakes

Asked by skyryder Jun 25, 2015 at 05:16 PM about the 2006 Jaguar X-TYPE 3.0L Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When applying bakes, the pedal will kinda "skip" as pressing, the image I get as feeling this is as linkage loose. Just had control arms replaced, said brake pads and rotors looked good. Wasn't too long after this started happening. Have bleed lines. twice. still has that "coming apart" feel.

Are you noticing this at high speeds or very slow speeds as well? It just sounds like your anti lock is kicking in if you are noticing it at high speeds. Have you owned this car for a while, or did you just buy it?

either stopping speed really. doesn't do everytime, but say 7 out of ten it will. Had almost 2 yrs. 2006, 3.0, 60,000mi

let me add the skipping feel seems more to do with something under the hood on left side (or course)

You will have to take it to the dealer. It sounds like you may have a glitch in your ECU. It almost seems like for some reason it's constantly getting a signal from the wheel sensors telling it that it's always at a high rate of speed causing the brakes to pulsate in order to avoid a skid. This constant brake pulse it the "slipping" that you are feeling....................... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfzuW8wFpgI

If you experiencing it only on the left, you may just have a bad wheel sensor. But usually when those go bad, the ABS light is on.

Would take back and ask them to check and see if something has come loose on the control arms they replaced.
