how to fix toyota camry when you cross wires when charging the battery?

Asked by BetsyOrman Dec 16, 2018 at 04:19 PM about the 2007 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

In the dark, in a hurry, my usually very careful husband tried to charge the
dead car battery on my Toyota Camry 2007. He crossed the charging cables
by mistake and saw a spark. Then when he went to drive it after charging it
again the correct way it wouldn't go past 20 mph. How do we fix this,? Did
we blow a fuse? Which ones and how to access? We both just lost our jobs
due to downsizing where we work and we need the cheap fix. Thanks
anyone/?
