2007 Toyota Camry knocking under hood.

Asked by Demi Feb 10, 2017 at 04:38 AM about the 2007 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car still runs good but, it scares me to hear
that knocking. At times its really loud. I've been
told it may be a belt, a cylinder, oil pump, and that
this model is known for bad transmissions. If
anybody has had this issue or has a
recommendation on what it could be, please let me
know. Please and thank you!

First you have to determine where the knock is coming from. More than likely it is a rod knock from the engine. If this has an automatic transmission, and when you drive and feel a vibration in the dash board, check the torque converter bolts.

Driving it with knocking coming from the engine compartment is not good. You are risking ruining the engine. Take it to a mechanic and have it evaluated.
