Idler pulley

Asked by avcmslug Jul 19, 2018 at 05:12 PM about the 1990 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My idler pulley had a major meltdown.  I went to NAPA and got a pulley but
there is also a spacer that the mounting threads into and then into the block.
My spacer is damaged and I cannot find any information for just the spacer
so I can buy it.

In a desperate situation I would try to create a temporary spacer using a large nut or a stack of large washers until you can find the right part. Don't run without a spacer or your belts won't line up. Or take your damaged spacer and drill it out for the bolt to pass through. I don't think it would have to be threaded.
