Do fuel pumps just die??

Asked by migration_jposs0423 Apr 14, 2015 at 10:15 AM about the 1991 Chevrolet C/K 1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was sitting on a hill and I was fixing to run
out of gas, I was riding on E, and my motor
died and I rolled down the hill to the gas
pump and put 3\4 of a tank worth of gas in
it and turned the key to let the fuel pump
suck in some gas and I thought I heard the
pump humming but I turned the key and
held it and the motor kept just turning and
never started. Did the fuel pump just quit?
Or is it fuses? Wires? A Short somewhere?
Somebody please help.

One more thing that you need to consider is never fill up when ever you see a fuel truck leaving the gas station, or pumping fuel in the gas tanks because all that sediment gets mixed with the fuel, and goes into your tank.
