1995 Silverado with 5.7 engine. It shows 50 pounds of oil pressure with no oil coming from the push rods. After about 5 minutes the oil begins to seep out. After about 10 minutes oil is oozing from all push rods but does not squirt out. I've seen chevy engines squirt the oil all over the engine bay. Is this a change made for adjusting the valves without using rags to stop the squirting oil?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Found a bad head gasket. When we took the valve covers off and ran the engine, it took 5 minutes to get oil to the rocker arms. After about 10 minutes the oil was oozing out but not squirting. Is this a change or do we have a problem?

Are the lifters ticking? Mine just ooze out but mine has kinda high mileage. If they arnt making noise and you or anyone hasn't touched them to give you reason to think they are misadjusted then I wouldn't be concerned. Are you running a really thick oil?
