I have a 97 5.7 vortec just got a great deal on a 93
5.7 not vortec I'm getting motor and tranny what
do I need to change to make it work I'm okay with it  
not being vortec

You would need to change the wiring harness, and the ECU, and the TCM. It has to be wired for that engine. The '97 5.7L runs off of a OBDII computer, and the '93 set-up runs off of a OBD1 computer. Expect a lot of head-aches. No guarantee the gauges will work.
