Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yesterday,  it was raining and on the way
home my 98 4.3L Chevy C1500 started to
rattle and run hot. It quit and this morning
all it will do is spin over. I checked oil and
water and it doesn't have in your mixing
together.  I'm wondering if it is possible if
jumped time. With the rain I wasn't able to
watch my gages like I normally would.

It is possible that the timing jumped. Running a compression test would help identify the problem. Rattle and running hot is not a good thing. The engine may be bad.
