Dies after start up

I have a 1992 chevy cavalier car was running
fine but it died on me while driving i thought
it ran out of gas i put one gallon in car
started up and drove but really struggled it
had no power the car turned off and now
starts and has a rough idel and dies again i
was thinking fuel pump or the regulator is
bad any suggestions

It may be that there is a fuel pressure issue, start by checking the fuel pump pressure, it should be 30 to 44 lbs. before the fuel regulator.
