Drove highway speeds in 4 low

So one of the kids at work drove the truck about five miles
in 4wd low (automatic transmission, button controlled
4wd), probably topping out at 50mph for a couple miles.
After getting in it myself I drove ten feet and stopped, it
would lurch forward and lose acceleration quickly before
lurching forward again a second or two later. Seems okay
driving around the parking lot now in 2wd, transmission
fluid levels seem okay, but quite a few air bubbles. Any idea
how screwed the transfer case or anything else is?

Check the fluid level in the transfer case. Make sure it is full and doesn't have metal fragments in it. My guess would be the transfer case may be gone.
