Door locks a trunk

Asked by GuruZLZPM Oct 31, 2017 at 01:58 PM about the 1992 Buick Riviera Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car doors will randomly unlock the
doors and the trunk will open by itself,
sometimes while driving down the road.
It’s not the key fob, I’ve removed the
battery from it to make sure.  Where on the
car is the device that the fob
communicates with?  I’ suspecting that it is
the culprit

I suspect it is the keyless entry module. On your car it should be located in the trunk under the back window. It is usually a black plastic box about 4 x 4 with one connection. unplug the connector and see if the problem goes away........you will loose the keyless entry function when you unplug the connection.
