With intermittent issues, do testing when problem is ongoing. Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while visually check for spark at the plugs and fuel injector pulse? Any applicable trouble codes? I have seen intermittent rpm signals, that will drive you nuts. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. That signal comes from crank sensor. I don't know if crank sensor is faulty? Just a thought.
