Running the fuel tank low causes the fuel pump to run hotter than usual because it is submerged in gasoline. Try taking a rubber hammer and smacking the gas tank in the center to jump start the pump. The fuel pump will need replaced even if it starts.

The 04 lesabre i have has 253,000 miles and has had 4 fuel pumps in its time bc of the "guage" or "floater" that is attached.. Fairly cheap on amazon and pretty easy to do yourself..
