I think my starter went out. I put a new one in but still doesn't start. What else could be the problem with the starter?

is there anything happening when you turn the key? a click or anything? if its a manual theres a clutch switch under the dash that could be bad. may be starter relay. may be the wiring is wrong or damaged. neitral safety switch if its an automatic. poor connection at battery? completely dead battery and needs replacing? do some more digging. sorry
