Can I put 245/45z/17 original is
225/55/17

The 245's would be a full inch shorter and nearly an inch wider. 245/50 17 would be a better choice.

Yes the 245/45 would be smaller in diameter and it will change your speedometer about 5% A better choice if you want to use the wider 245 would be 245/50r17 they are only 1/10 inch smaller and the speedometer only changes .4%
