Blower selector does not work
I just replaced the blower motor in my car
and it is working fine through all speeds
selected. The issue is when you select
defrost vent or heat, the air consistently
blows the same speed through all of the
vents equally. I have checked the fuses and
the cabin air filter, all seem fine. Not sure if
there is a possible vacuum leak. I took the
dash apart and found a hockey puck
looking plastic peice and moving the "arm"
that is attached to it regulates where the air
is blown but I am not sure if that is where
the issue lies. Another person suggested
that the fan is blowing in reverse, therefor
blowing air but not pushing it. Thanks in

try checking the blower resiter
Check your vacuum hose that runs by your battery under your hood. Mine was pinched and had a hole. I cut the line and spliced it together. Runs perfect now.
Took your advice and checked the vacuum line running along side the battery and son-of-a-gun if it wasn't broke in two. Probably happened in the cold of winter when I replaced the battery which was exactly the same time I noticed the mode selector was not working. Used some 3/16" heat shrink tubing (one end at a time) to splice it together. Works perfectly now!!! THANKS LOGAN
Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. I've been having this same problem. After reading this I went out and looked and sure enough the vacuum tube is broke in two. Now just have to find me some of that heat shrink tubing unless you have other suggestions for splicing the tube??? Thanks.
Same here! I joined it with a bendy straw and duct tape. Works perfect now.
I have the same issue but cannot find the other end.???? I have the piece that runs down the fender to the battery but can not see where it is suppose to go. I have battery out and only see electrical wires in cases.
OMG! So Happy I found this thread! Exact same issue. It appears the hose is a hard plastic and is now incredibly brittle. @Guru9T8YB, the vacuum line disappears into a corrugated cover with several other wires on my 99 Century. The cover is attached to the inner fender well. The hose makes a large loop from vacuum source on the intake to firewall, down the fender and then back towards the firewall inside the corrugated cover.
Traced my line and found this went to go use some rubber tubing connected the two pieces. And it's still blowing out all vents. Maybe I should try heat shrinking tubing to have a solid connection?
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had the same problem but I found about 3" of that 1/8" vacuum line missing under the hood near the passenger windshield wiper. I fixed mine with a piece of model airplane 1/8" fuel hose.
