There is a spring at the base of the wiper arm assembly, this spring applies tension to the arm and this is what pulls the blade onto the windshield. If the spring is rusted or broken then the wiper blade will not stay firmly on the windshield. Try some lubricant on the spring and the hinges at the bottom of the arm assembly and then work it back and fourth until it holds firm to the glass, If this does not then a new wiper arm assembly is needed.
