Clicking noise

Asked by kjtgramma Jan 11, 2014 at 04:07 PM about the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country LXi LWB FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 T&C 3.8 Van Yesterday it started making clicking noise when running.
The van runs great except for the clicking which sounds like its coming from around the
alternator or in that area.  (Alternator is putting out 14.40 amps) the belt also appears
to be fine. I put a code reader on it and it shows two codes P0732 and P1784   The
only other problem is when its really cold out I will start to back out of my drive way
and it won't move ( won't go backward or forward) until I shut the car off 1-2 times and
then the transmission will engage.  Does anyone know it that could be the cause of the
clicking.  I also need to understand what those codes mean and how I can correct
them.  Thanks in advance, Linda

Two different problems one is most likely a lifter, the other sounds like a transmission fluid may need serviced, or the controller for trans is acting up
