Could be the timing belt as Bob said but it just might be something else. Again, mileage can tell a lot. If the alternator died and you were running on just battery power, The problem is the alternator and the battery. Have it towed to a good mechanic and have him diagnose the problem. You could spend much more doing it yourself.

Have an '08 P/T standard the motor just died at a stop sign and barely would jump. Replaced battery, but just cranks without hint of starting n feels like no compression moving motor. Sounds different turning over as well. Suspect timing belt, but wouldn't an engine light come on? Has 98K miles. Radiator and oil were full; no mix of either on oil stick.
