2006 PT Cruiser "check engine light"

Check engine light frequently comes on, then severl weeks leter goes off.
Havehad it checked twice.  Last check on Friday showed many, many computer
codes, but nothing mechanic had to fixx. The last time it happened they
installed a plug to keep battery charged (to keep computer working) It is
plugged in when not being driven. Question 1, why all these codes and Question
2, can I drive on a trip where there is no way to keep it plugged in at night?
It stll runs and has not had any stalling probelms.

It might be an intermittent problem but fist u have to post the codes.
