What could be wrong with my volvo?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car was working perfectly fine when I pulled out of my driveway. Reached a
light, once it turned green..tried to accelerate and the car literally clunked out
on me. Would not even want to drive. Can't put in reverse. Every time I'd rev
the car, makes a "ripping" noise.

Tom -- i'm getting 3-6g as an estimate for the transmission on a volvo..

Haven't had anyone look yet. Car was towed back to my home. So far, just explained to mechanics, and their as well saying transmission. Trying to find someone to come to my home and take a look before I pay loads to transfers to a shop to fix..
