erratic temperature readings...help!!!

My 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix has a new radiatior, new hoses, new thrmostat and new
coolant temp sensor but it still is somewhat erratic on the gauge. It goes to 1/4 and
stays there until you stop somewhere (even exiting the hwy)...it then climbs to 1/2 and
will sometimes go up to almost 3/4 before going back down.  The climb between 1/4
and 1/2 marks takes place within a mile or two...the drop back down also takes place
quickly most of the time.  Could the gauge be faulty? The only part that was replaced
before the radiator that is still there is the coolant temp sensor.  I am baffled!!  Thanks
PS It's the 3.8L supercharged GT version

If you do not see any evidence that the vehicle is over heating except for the gauge saying it is it just maybe a bad gauge

You may also want to flush cooling system with Prestone Super Radiator and Cooling Flush.
