Front Hub Assembly Compatability

Asked by Phillip Jun 01, 2017 at 03:58 PM about the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2WD 2007 Pathfinder that has a front hub that needs replacing. I
ordered one off the interwebs and received the DL515065 (4WD) instead of the
DL515064 (2WD) assembly. Can I put the 4WD hub on a 2WD vehicle without
any issues? I called the local autozone and got some guesses as to the
answer, but nothing very solid or reliably helpful.

If you don't mind my asking, what is the reasoning behind the part not being compatible?

There is no spline in the one wheel bearing for rear wheel drive, and the back of the bearing is sealed up better, where as the hub assembly for a 4 wheel drive has a center spline, and the front axle covers the back of the wheel bearing. Whether you could use it or not, maybe so, but it is not right. Always use the correct part.
