Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 07 maxima shut off without any warning. I was on the freeway and it began making this loud noise, sound like something had popped. So i took it to madias and the guy said it could be possibly the engine well when i got it back he said to drive it a couple of days and if its still doing the samething i should look into a engine i didn't believe him i took my car still making this loud noise while driving. I get about 5 yards from hard and with out warning my car stops and will not start. I need some help of what might this be. Is it truly a engine. And the car will not start but power comes on.

It sound,s like timing belt idler may be bad,and caused the timing belt to jump ,meaning out of timing, and hope you do not have engine damage.

You may just replace idler,s and timing belt,if it did not hurt the head, when this happen. You can have a compression check on the cylinder,s to rule out head damage.
