Coolant temperature guage

Asked by David Apr 03, 2015 at 10:27 AM about the 2007 Volkswagen Touareg V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently my 07 Touareg v6 coolant temperature gauge would go way past normal temp
(almost to red)  until Vehicle seems warmed up and then return to middle or normal
temperature and stay there. I don't think this is normal but I want to be sure.

No,this is not normal, may be a bad thermostat, radiator fan not working right,or low coolant.

i am agreeing on t_s_t on this one tho i would say depending on your mileage if your close to 90,000 km before a service and its not been done before then it most likely is a sticking thermastat.

Sorry am not answering your question but rather, would like to know how to fix my 2004 VW Touareg V8. Everything was working until I changed the coolant which I used the VW Audi G13 coolant but the gage goes up and never returns to normal until I put it off and wait until it cools down. Please any help will do in fixing it to normal, thank you

If your gauge is screwing up you either never bleed out all the air bubbles in the system, the thermostat is no good anymore or clogged, Or you used the wrong stuff. Also regular operating tempatures for vw and audi engines is 90 degrees constant after 10-15 minutes of regular operation. The gauge should stay at 90 degrees for at least 10-20 minutes after operating the vehicle is normal
