I have a Buick Lucerne 2007 4.6 engine and it won't start but does make a clicking noise. I replaced the battery and the vehicle only has 24,000 miles on it. I think that it is the starter under the intake manifold. What do you think?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had been driving most of the day but when I stopped for a coke I came out and it would not start (only a clicking sound).  A GM garage jumped it for me and it started right up and I was able to make it home.  Now, after I replaced the battery, I get the same clicking noise that comes from under the intake manifold.  Jumping will not start it and I know that the battery is charged because I put my charger on it and it is completely charged.  Is it a loose connection?

A GM garage had pulled the engine to replace a leaking main seal (common problem for the 4.6 engine). When they put the starter back in the mechanic did not know that you have to lift or put upward pressure under the starter and fasten it down. This took care of the clicking sound and the starter has worked perfectly ever since. It only moved the starter upward about 1/8 of an inch or less but that is all that it took to solve the problem.
