and where the hose comes out of the
plastic radiator a chunk broke off what kind
of damage can I expect

My guess is maybe one of the radiator cooling fans either broke or something got caught in the motor side one and that was the ticking noise....then it was thrown out and hit the radiator connector and broke it.
