Any Ideas??

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving at freeway speeds (70 mph) today and my check engine light came on and my car started to decellerate.  The engine still runs and the car will go into gear but won't go faster than idle speeds.  The accelerator seems to be disengaged.  Any ideas??

Go to the parts store or repair shop and get the codes read. They can tell you what has failed and suggest a repair.

Since you can't really drive the car you'd have to go borrow a code reader from the parts store. Check with the local chains in your area and see if any of them offer this. I know Advance Auto Parts does loan tools. Once you've got the code for the check engine light you can search the Internet for it and see what it means, and that will give you a starting point to search.
