Motor swap

Asked by GuruTZ497 Jun 11, 2018 at 08:29 PM about the 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Swapping an 03 Subaru Impreza 2.5 ej251 motor
into an 06 (ej253). Was told I could have AVCS
tuned out but I have zero fire from the plugs. What
could it be?

Probably the wrong engine computer. Did the person that told you this have experience with swapping in incorrect engines or were they BSing you?

I believe the advice to be honest. They had nothing to gain from it and they are serious Subaru enthusiasts!

Have them show you how it works. I would never try to mix and match engines and ECU's.
