I have a 2006 forester which does the same thing every time I drive it

Asked by Cheryl Feb 23, 2017 at 02:43 PM about the 2006 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Each day the first time I am driving out of my garage and down the street
the car gives a loud thunk as it shifts (Automatic tranny). It is louder and
more prunounced in cold weather. I have read on other blogs that other
people have experienced the same thing. One person said if was the ABS
automatic check but I don't know that I agree as it is a shitfing/transmission
thing.

Check your ATF level. Maybe you should change the fluid and filters while you are at it.
