Seat Belt Adjustment

Asked by BarnTalker Apr 10, 2018 at 08:09 AM about the 2007 Dodge Charger SE RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

At only 5 ft., I am a very short woman. My problem is the seat belt. Even with
the adjuster on the door frame in its lowest position and the electric seat in
its highest position the belt cuts directly across my neck. Not only is this
extremely uncomfortable, it is also very dangerous! I have to keep tugging
on it so it doesn't tighten around my neck and strangle me as I drive down
the road! I have tried some of those cheap plastic clips meant to hold the 2
belt sections together over the abdomen, but they were useless. They kept
popping open and eventually just broke in half. I've been searching for a
solution with no luck. Any suggestions? I love my car, but I'm sick of it
choking me every time I drive!

My friend's wife was having the same problem, well not being short, with the seat belt I mean. Her's is a 2010 Ford Explorer, he took it to the dealer and they were able, for a charge, to readjust the lap belt's extension about 5 inches and that solved the problem. I don't know if the same can be done in you Dodge or even if the dealer will want to do it. Frankly, I do not know of any other solution that will work, and those plastic clips, as you know, are no good.
