Just replaced Radiator and Thermostat

Asked by Anehemiah Jan 12, 2017 at 12:17 AM about the 2007 Dodge Caravan SXT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced radiator and it still ran hot so guy
said I need Thermostat fixed and now I have
thick white smoke from exhaust... Not to
mention it cuts off after I put in reverse or
shortly after I drive off.... AND STILL OVER
HEATS... and as soon as I pulled back up
guy did something under hood in which I
think he just removed radiator cap and it
cooles right back down... So we kept the van
running he thought there was just Air in the
engine.... Idk? So we poured water in it with
cap off until it started to bubble out... Soon
the white smoke from exhaust started right
back up as soon as I put in reverse... Now
guy says he thinks my fans arent working
properly because they came on but bot right
away and not even after I turn the Van off 07
dodge caravan.... There wasn't NO water
mixed with the oil oh and forgot to mention
as soon as I put in reverse the engine light
flashes as well and that never before
happened

You have a blown head gasket. The white smoke out the exhaust is coolant leaking into the cylinders and burning out. It also makes it overheat.
