what part is missing

My car started then died. there is definitely something missing, someone got
under my hood and stole it, it was bolted to the large bracket you can see in
the pic. I had replaced the belt a few months ago myself and the diagram is
on the car. I'm just not sure what the missing piece is. maybe the alternator
is missing? someone told me I could just use a shorter belt because it was
the AC but this model never had one, no extras at all, no power widows etc. I
know it's not an idler pulley, water pump or the power steering missing.

The AC compressor is bolted to that area. But you said you didn't have AC? I'm confused.

That bracket is also a lift point. Maybe GM used it even though your car did not come with air.

thanks for the replies,, I am confused too but I definitely had the belt on something there. What is a lift point?

I went to have another look and found all necessary parts where there, just nothing where the AC should be. I did draw the attention of a few backyard mechanics, men are always fascinated by a woman doing auto repair ;) and they all agreed It must be a just missing a pulley so I'll be at the pic-n-pull tomorrow. thanks for the replies
