Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 L300 with a bad bcm. All the gauges and a/c stop working and when I took it to pep boys I was told about the bcm. I bought a new bcm from a Chevrolet dealership (with the car VIN#) and my questions is once I put the new bcm back do I have to take it back to the dealer to have the bcm programmed? The service advisor where I bought the bcm wasn't sure about having the part program.

I bought the bcm for $255.00 new (have a friend at courtesy Chevrolet with great disc.) Installed it myself because its on top of the glove compartment and was easy. Then i had the car towed to dealership and paid $110 for the bcm programing. Car is working very good now.
