would low oil cause engine overheating?

Asked by GuruTDTQY Aug 01, 2018 at 06:19 PM about the 2000 Saturn L-Series 4 Dr LS1 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The engine temperature was approaching the red zone. What could cause
that?

1 Answer

Low oil level could do that as excessive friction causes a lot of heat. I would be looking at the cooling system but obviously check the oil level.
