The dome light in my 2007 Chrysler Sebring won't come on.  I have checked the bulb (lamp) and the fuse, both of which are fine.  What could be the problem?

It does not come on when I open the door. I don't mean the map lights that have a switch for the driver to turn on, but the dome light that should automatically come on when the door opens, and automatically go off when the door closes.
