How do I check for spark on my 95 Camero 5.7ltr

one hack way is to remove the plug - lay (or clamp) the spark plugs metal part firmly against an earthed part of the engine (bare metal) and try start car.. If u see a small arc shooting across the tip u have spark. Dont hold it or you might get a nice little shock :p Will be easier to see @ dusk/night. Is the car not starting?
